According to the tradition, this town was much important in time of the Carthaginians, that they recruited in her numerous and vigorous hosts. His primitive name was “Obia ”, according to a few authors, and “Ovia ”, according to others. The last one is the one that appears in the episcopal Wamba division, and, according to them, it places it in the limits of the dioceses Valerian and Ercaviense.
